learn BB
One of the earliest tangles, called BB by Zentangle®, is just rectangles, lined up next to one another, side-by-side. It reminds me of a Bunch of Books, floating on a wavy shelf… or maybe a very long accordion… or a caterpillar with corners…
Anyway, if the rectangles were not side-by-side, but rather stacked on top of each other… Voila! Bamboo!
shapes to Explore:
- Trunk/branches: rounded rectangles
- Leaves — long, thin, pointed end
- Leaf stem — thin arc
things to Notice:
- Nodes — space between rounded rectangles
- Trunk/branches — tall, slight curve
- Leaves/branches — grow at nodes
- Leaves — most point downward
- Community — trunks grow close together
for a Gallery:
- black ink on white Zentangle® tile (3½”x3½”)
- shaded with graphite, then colored pencil/pens
